64 Voice
Expandable Digital Grand Piano
Alesis'
new DG8 64 Voice Expandable Digital Grand Piano combines Alesis' renowned
synthesizer technology with the great sound of our award-winning studio monitor
speakers and amplification tools. The result is a powerful, all-in-one keyboard
performance machine that's perfect for everyone from beginning pianists to professional
performers. The stars of the DG8's sound set are its excellent true stereo piano
varieties - it is the first instrument to contain 3 different high quality stereo
48kHz linear piano samples. Within its 88 preset programs are everything from
dark-toned classical grands to bright pianos for rock, jazz and pop. You'll also
find a wide selection of electric and pipe organs, electric pianos, synthesizers
and other keyboard instrument sounds for every application. A collection of other
instrument sounds, like strings and choirs, are provided to round-out your new
compositions. A grand total of 24 megabytes of sound ROM are found onboard...much
more than most other digital pianos and synthesizers. Plus, its true 64 voice
polyphony ensures that you won't lose voices when voicing thick chords or sustained
phrases. The DG8 is tri-timbral, so you can split the keyboard (i.e., play a bass
line with your left hand while performing an organ solo with the right), or create
and use layered sounds, like stacking a piano and a string sound on the same note.
The DG8 also provides built-in effects like reverb, chorus and rotary speaker
simulation.
The
DG8's 88-key, fully-weighted, hammer-action keyboard is an advanced design that
offers the feel of a finely-crafted acoustic grand piano. Every time you hit a
note, a mechanism beneath the keys makes contact with the bottom of the key, just
like a piano. Adding to its piano realism are three pedal inputs for sustain,
sostenuto and soft pedal control, plus a separate input for a volume/modulation
pedal. The DG8 also offers an expansion slot, allowing you to add new sounds to
those provided in the DG8's internal memory using existing Alesis QCards. The
DG8's built-in speakers and amplifier provide a blistering 100 watts per channel
in discrete bi-amplified stereo. Together, the DG8's monitoring system sounds
great and is more than loud enough for performing in small venues without additional
amplification. It also features stereo inputs for monitoring external signals.
For home and studio use, the DG8 has an optional attractive black-lacquer
wood stand with built-in pedals (GS1 - $499)
