
The DMX Programmable Digital Grum Machine is the best sounding and most versatile percus sion unit available anywhere. It has capabilities that place it light years beyond the ordinary rhythm box. yet the DMX is easy to use. and easy to play. The DMX is not a drum synthesiz er: it is a complex microcomputer sys tem programmed with digital studio recordings ot real drums. It doesn t sound like a rhythm box. it sounds like a drummer. Not only does the DMX sound like a drummer. it can play things that up to now. only a real drummer could play: like rolls. flams. odd time signatures. uneven phrases. changing tempos. or even off the beat The DMX contains 24 drum sounds. including cymbals. Drum sequences can be recorded in real time or one note at a time.
Up to 100 Sequences of any length or time signature can be recorded. played. and modified quickly and easily. Individual drums or individual notes can be recorded. erased, and then re-recorded until the drum beat is exactly right. The sequences can be combined to form up to 50 songs. Each song can contain up to 255 sequences. arranged in any order, to form a complete compo sition. Tempo and Time Signature are programmable for each sequence. and with the DMX's extensive editing capability. a song's structure can be changed quickly and easily. The DMX has several Quantize modes, which correct your rhythm to any beat between 1/4 notes, and 32T notes. In addition, there is a Swing mode which will give rhythms the un even feel that is used so often in jazz and other music.
The DMX features a built-in nine input stereo mixer, and each of the eight modular voices also has its own output, so you can record them on separate tracks, with separate effects for each. The DMX can run in synchroniza tion with the Oberheim DSX Digital Polyphonic Sequencer. audio or vid eotape, other sequencers. or almost anything else. There are external trig gers and control voltage inputs for each voice, so you can control the DMX with sequencers. synthesizers. or even a drum kit. A rechargeable battery maintains power to the memory when the DMX is turned off. so that you don't lose your sequences when you turn off power A cassette interface is pro vided which enables quick changes of all of the sequences and permanent data storage.
The MIDI DMX retains all the features of the original DMX including 40,000 note capacity, 200 patterns, 100 songs, fully interchangeable sounds, tap tempo, 24 custom setup parameters, tape sync, step & real time recording, etc. In addition, midi has been added, allowing full midi sync in addition to midi keying, song patch change and more.
