PEAVEY DPMSX-II SAMPLE INPUT DEVICE
|
|
The DPM SXª 11 is a 16-hit stereo sample input device that allows you to record your own keyboard samples. The DPM SX 11 , specifically designed to work with the DPM SP, and can also enhance other products, such as the DPM 4, DPM 3SE, and DPM V3, that allow new samples to be loaded via MIDI or SCSI, With the DPM SX 11, you can create a powerful yet affordable sampling system. The DPM SX 11 is the front end of this system, featuring the ability to record high quality samples in mono or stereo. The system is completed with the addition of the DPM SP or DPM 4 as a host, where trimming, looping. storage, and playback are performed. The SX 11 makes the job of creating professional-sounding Samples easy with its "through the A/D converter monitoring" that lets you hear the digitized signal before and during the sampling process. The audition feature allows you to listen to your new sample before YOU transfer it for editing and storage. Samples created using this system become DPM waves that can be used to build \-our own library of original sounds. The SX 11 is a single rack-space module. Special input connectors provide phantompowered XLR inputs as well as standard 1/4" inputs on the front panel. Dualconcentric level controls with bi-color level indicators allow the input signals to be adjusted to the desired level. The audio source can be a microphone, a CD player, a keyboard, a guitar, or just about anything. The only thing you need to do besides adjust the sound level is set the sample rate and length of the sample to be recorded, and you are ready to go. Sampling can be triggered automatically by the input signal, or manually from the front panel of the SX 11, The SX 11 has a MIDI DUMP button on the front panel that automatically sends the current sample out of the MIDI port. Samples can also be sent using the highspeed SCSI port. Since the SX 11 sends samples in the standard SDS format over MIDI and in the standard SMDI format over SCSI, it is also compatible with other instruments and computers. This means a computer-based sample editing program could be used as an editing environment before sending the sample to the voice module. When using the SX 11 with products that accept SCSI (like the DPM SP), even the longest samples can be transferred in seconds over this high-speed communications link. The SX 11 can also transfer a sample over SCSI as it is being taken, which minimizes the sampling memory required. Although the SX 11 is designed for use with the DPM product family, it is compatible with many other applications. Up until now, high-quality sampling has been out of reach for many people, not only because of expense, but because of the tedious time and effort required to create good samples. The SX 11 with the DPM SP or DPM 4, brings stereo 16-bit sampling to a level that anyone can utilize and afford. |
