The Emulator III is designed to be a musical instrument, an audio post production workstation, and a digital effects processor in one system. System features include:
- full 16 bit linear stereo sampling
- 16 voices
- 4 megabytes (expandable to 8 megabytes) RAM
- 40 megabyte internal hard disk
- an extensive 16 track sequencer with full edit, cut, paste
- and SMPTE cue list sequencing.
A SCSI interface is included for additional hard disk drives, tape backup, CD-ROM and other mass storage devices. System expansion options include an E3 expander module that expands the system to 32 voices and 16 megabytes. Sampling rates/times with 4 megabytes include 67.6 seconds mono (31kHz), 33.8 seconds stereo, 47.2 seconds mono (44 kHz), 23.6 seconds stereo (44 kHz).
With 8 megabytes installed, the sampling times are doubled. Specifications include frequency response at 44 kHz of 12.5Hz to 20kHz +/- 3dB, and Dynamic range of greater than 110dB, weighted, velocity & pressure sensitive keyboard, 16 audio outputs plus stereo, RS422 port, and much more. Planned options include direct to hard disk sampling, and CD WORM drive capabilities.
A special software based system is under development by DIGIDESIGN for the EIII and Apple Macintosh II computer.
