The JV1080 expandable synthesizer is a 16 part multi-timbral module with 64 note polyphony. In addition, the JV1080 can accept up to 4 SR-JV80 8 megabyte expansion boards allowing up to 40 megabytes of sound ROM plus additional SO-PCM1 series wave cards to provide another 2 Megabytes of PCM data (42 mb rom total).
There are 42 insert effects available including rotary, auto wah, time controlled delay, two voice pitch shifting, combination effects, distortion and phase shifting effects.
There are 10 tone structures as opposed to the six tone structures available on the JD990. With the addition of a ring modulator and a new booster function, completely new waveforms are easily created and allow functions similar to pulse width modulation. There is the normal stereo mix outputs plus two pairs of stereo outputs which bypass the effects, and a 40 character two line LCD display.
