Music Percussion Computer is a fully dynamic, touch-sensitive playable and programmable electronic rhythm instrument. The MPC's sophisticated microelec tronics provide a whole new range of percussion sounds playable in real time with drumsticks and programmable through its own on-board microprocessor. And the MPC's one-of-a-kind interface system with the *Timex Sinclair 1000 personal computer produces a clear graphic display for composing, building rhythm tracks or just learning the drums.
Designed and manufactured in England, the MPC is a combination drum kit, rhythm sequencer, mixer and com puter. Its eight drum pads are made of high-impact ABS plastic and respond to all of the dynamic nuances of a drummer's sticking technique, producing the warm, con temporary sound of a studio drum kit. The snare pad features adjustable Pitch, Decay and "Snare" Noise controls. Four tunable tom pads provide a complete array of high and low tom sounds with fully ad justable Bend, "Skin" Noise, Pitch and Decay. These same controls on the bass drum, cymbal and open or closed hi hat (which also has a Tightness control) let you tune in sin gle or double-headed drums and large or small cymbals with various rates of timbre and attack. All tuning adjust ments can be made in the recording and playback modes. The MPC's Mixer section has separate output and level controls for discrete signal processing and multitrack re cording. The Master Mix output pans the drum sounds into a stereo image, recreating the sound of a real drum kit.
Housed in its own road-ready flight case with mic stand adapter, the MPC's 16 key on-board microprocessor can record; play back; control tempo, bar length and time sig natures; add accents and program sequences with up to 199 possible entries. The performer can also play the MPC manually along wilh the internal memory to add rolls, fills and other variations. Interfacing the MPC with the Timex T/S IOOOT~ com puter allows you to expand the memory capability up to 26 bars, with up to 20 beats per bar. This lets you write or delete any beat or bar and store or recall any rhythm program. Complete rhythm tracks can be loaded onto cassette for future use. The MPC's exceptional flexibility means you can use drumsticks or the computer keyboard (or both) to add accents, shorten measures and play anticipated beats.
Each MPC comes with a pre-recorded cassette of complete rhythm tracks to help familiarize you with the unit. The Music Percussion Computer's synchronization facil ities can be used to link up with tape recorders, synthesiz ers, computers, sequencers and other electronic effects. All of which adds up to an unlimited number of performance and programming options that let you play what you feel and see what you play.
