Based on the Matrix 6 and Matrix 1000, Oberheim introduced a keyboard called the OB-8K.
Features include
- full analog sound capabilities
- 8 voice polyphony w/ multi-timbral operation
- a 5 octave pressure and attack/release velocity keyboard
- 1000 internal patches (800 in ROM, 200 in RAM)
100 system setups - each of which memorizes voice patches / initial volume / transposition / and other data for four internal or external sound sources and many of the functions of the Oberheim Systemizer allowing the OB-8K to be used as both a tone generator and midi controller.
Each voice can be routed to either of two stereo outputs, which are then optionally routed through a programmable chorus section. A first for Oberheim, the OB-8K is their first synthesizer to use standard wheels for pitch bend & modulation. Scheduled list price $1295. We don't know if Oberheim actually released this model.
