Yamaha's PTX8 is a programmable MIDI or pad trigger percussion tone module with 26 internal PCM sounds taken from the Yamaha RX5 drum machine, and like the RX5 sounds can be edited and stored as patches.

Features include 64 internal RAM voice memories, and 32 RkitS memories (each of which includes a complete drum kit set up to 8 pads with pitch, volume, and touch sensitivity setting for each voice).

Sound cartridges for the RX5 can also be used with the PTX8, along with RAM4 RAM cartridges for storage of sound memories and setups.
