Q1 - A sequencing module in their Music Workstation series, the Q1 features 16 tracks, SMPTE read & write capabilities, 512K RAM, high density 3.5" disk drive (1.4 megabytes), optional SCSI interface, optional CRT display port, 2 mergable midi inputs, 2 midi outputs, phrase or continuous record modes, and extensive midi editing. Tempo resolution is 1/100th of a beat per minute, timing resolution to 1/192nd note, auto locate functions, and loop functions that can be released via footswitch for stage use.

The S3 is a new drum machine with 16 bit PCM sound data. Features include 12 note polyphony, 8 megabit waveform capacity, independent 2 channel stereo effects generator (similar to M1), 8,000 note capacity (16,000 note capacity with RAM card), MIDI/SMPTE/MTC sync generator & reader, and stereo plus 4 outputs. The sequencer song section of the S3 features 4 pattern tracks and 4 real time tracks.

The pattern tracks are assembled in the same way as traditional rhythm machines, while the real time tracks are recorded the same as MIDI sequencers. This allows the S3 to overdub parts to the pattern tracks in the song mode. No listing of internal sounds was available, but sounds are in the form of waveform data with both attack and sustain type waveforms with synthesis capabilities.
