QX5 is a midi sequencer from Yamaha with features
incorporated from the QX-1 and the QX-21. Features include a 16 x 2 backlit LCD
readout, approximately 20,000 note memory, 8 separate tracks, 32 'macro functions',
audio click output, punch in/out, auto locate, step recording & edit, FSK
sync in/out, tape or midi save/load, assignable foot switch jack, and extensive
midi re-channelizing / midi input filtering. The macros are thought of as 'floating
tracks' to be used for repeats & temporary storage. The QX5 can save or load
it's data via midi for use with such devices as computers, disk drives such as
the MDF-1 (below) or even the DX7IIFD's drive. Weight is under 7 lbs.

The QX21 is a two
track midi sequencer that is identical in operation to the QX7 sequencer
introduced in January of 1985, but is at a substantially lower price.
