R-8 - $995 - The R-8, a new rhythm composer (drum machine) is Roland's new top of the line rhythmer with 48 built in sound sources w/ 16 bit D/A conversion sampled at 44.1kHz sampling rate. Features include programming resolution of up to 1/384th note, velocity sensitive buttons, up to 100 patterns (each up to 99 measures) - total memory of 2600 notes, ROM resident patterns, a "human feel" function (8 selections), song time calculator function, 8 audio outputs, and more. In step write mode, dynamics, pitch, decay time, and nuance can be individually controlled for each sound source and for each step. A copy voice function allows users to vary parameters such as pitch & decay of these sounds and store 16 new sounds in the units internal memory. A total of 80 drum & percussion sounds can be produced using an optional ROM card.
