The Yamaha V80FD is a high end FM synthesizer keyboard that was announced, but we're not sure it was released in the U.S.
Features include
- a 40 x 8 supertwist backlit LCD display
- 32 note polyphony with 16 way multi-timbral dynamic allocation FM tone generation (enhanced 6 operator FM synthesis)
- built-in digital signal processing
- midi in / thru / and 3 programmable midi outputs
- 5 octave velocity & pressure keyboard
- and internal expansion ports.
The first expansion ports to be made available will include a PCM tone generation card ($995) that may include an acoustic piano and rhythm sounds, and an RGB card ($269) to allow the 40 x 8 LCD readout to be enlarged and shown on a color monitor. Another card for sequencer expansion ($399) was also discussed.
In addition, a DS/HD disk drive expansion option ($595) will be made available to store all internal functions and midi sys/ex data.
