"A synthesizer is really made up of two main parts: the synth itself and something (usually a keyboard) that lets the musician play it. Other manufacturers package these two parts in the same cabinet. We believe that keeping them separate is better, so we did just that."

It's a radical idea. But it makes the VOYETRA a no-compromise instrument that won't become obsolete, even after several generations of other synths have come and gone.

The VOYETRA's central module contains a powerful microcomputer controlli ng eight incredibly versatile synthesizer circuits, packaged in a standard 19" rack-mount steel chassis. It's rugged, portable, and professional. Inside, the electronics have been put on easily removable circuit cards, so that upgrades or repairs are simple.

To interface between you and the VOYETRA module we built the VPK-5 keyboard. Velocity and pressure sensitive, the VPK-5 is inherently remote-not an expensive extra-and i ngen iously con nected to the VOYETRA by a standard microphone cable instead of a delicate and costly multi-pin ribbon. (And if you aren't a keyboard player, don't worry. New VOYETRA controllers on the way will allow guitarists, drummers, vibraphonists and other talented musicians to explore the unlimited world of synthesis.)

On most synths, the only controls are those labelled on the front panel. They're "two-dimensional." VOYETRA isn't. We've added a "third dimension" we call Pages. With them, you can change the function of the panel controls just as though you were flipping through pages of a book. Only the controls you need are in front of you at any one time, making the VOYETRA simple for performing and sophis ticated for programming. Hundreds of controls are available, in a space no bigger than 5" by 17". That's the power of Pages. They also allow future updates without outdating the original panel design-just one more part of planned non-obsolescence.
