Korg Wavestation Series

the WS Wavestation is an wavetable type synthesizer based upon Vector Synthesis technology. Features include a 61 note velocity and pressure keyboard, 32 note polyphony, 50 X 4 bank performance memory, 32 X 4 bank/32 wave sequence location X 4 banks (4 bank = ROM + 2 RAM cards), 2 digital multi effects units (similar to the M & T series), 4 audio outputs, and 8 channel midi operation w/ dynamic allocation. Utilizing sampled PCM waveforms, the wave sequence and vector synthesis functions can be manipulated in real time and programmed as in the conventional way by filters and envelopes. This is Korgs first product resulting for the acquisition of technology developed by their purchase of Sequential Circuits engineering and research, that culminated in the Prophet VS in 1987.

The Wavestation A/D (list $2495) is a rack mount version of the WS keyboard introduced in June 1990. Featuring vector synthesis, the Wavestation A/D has 4 megabytes of ROM based waveform data including single wave samples, sampled sounds, and wave sequences. As with the original WS, the A/D also includes a joystick on the front panel for vector control and shaping. In addition, the A/D has double the internal RAM memory for wavesequence and patch storage. A totally new feature in the A/D is stereo audio input and Analog to digital converters. These audio inputs allow any external stereo or mono sound source to be used as additional waveforms for synthesis. Audio signals can be processed through the dynamic filters, amplitude envelopes, panning control, modulation section and other functions. In addition, the audio inputs can be processed by the dual digital effects processors and/or mixed with internal synthesized sounds - including vocoder effects.

The Wavestation SR features 3 RAM Banks and 8 ROM Banks, containing a "Best Of" collection from the vast Wavestation sound library. This gives you instant access to an incredible 550 Performances (600 with an optional Program Card)-hundreds more than the origmal Wavestation keyboard. This huge number of internal Performances ranges from emulative sounds to unique Wavestation signature textures, including acoustic pianos, modern drums, booming basses. shimmering strings, delicate pads. searing leads and more-a complete set of standard sounds along with hundreds of rich. complex timbres that would be impossible to create on any other synthesizer. The Wavestation SR was designed from the ground up with multitimbral use in mind-just press a single front-panel button, and you're in Multi mode. Like the rest of the Wavestation family, the SR's Multisets can play a separate complex. split and layered Performance on each of 16 MIDI channels. But the SR has 32 Multisets double the number of the Wavestation EX and Wavestation A~D. Also new is the ability to set the panning and FX bussing for each MIDI channel, for MlDI-controlled mixes that can go directly from the Wavestation SR outputs to tape. With a special set of effects designed specifi cally for multi-timbral use, you can even use a separate high-quality effect on each of the 4 individual outputs. Program Data is 100% Compatible with the Wavestation and Wavestation A/D The Wavestation SR uses the same Advanc ed Vector Synthesis and Wave Sequencing as the other members of the award-winning Wavestation family That means that all of the sounds from the immense Wavestation library sound great on the Wavestation SR. too.
